Zum Abschied von Monkey Mia haben wir uns morgens wieder die Delfine angeschaut und dann den Camper wieder gesattelt.
Da wir ja die 150 Kilometer zum Highway wieder zurueckfahren mussten, waren wir natuerlich froh ueber jede Abwechslung an diesem schon morgens ziemlich heissen Tag.
So sind wir also auf ungefaehr halber Strecke abgebogen um uns das Goulet Bluff anzugucken, das diesmal nur 2 Kilometer vom Highway entfernt lag. Der Weg dorthin fuehrte ueber eine holperige aber immerhin befestige Strasse (unser Van hatte natuerlich keinen Allradantrieb). Schliesslich wurden die Schlagloecher dann aber doch zu gross fuer uns und wir wollten links abbiegen. Ab da begann dann das groesste Abenteuer unserer Fahrt: Wir haben uns gewaltig im Sand festgefahren. Ausser uns war mal wieder niemand zu sehen, es war mittlerweile bummsheiss und wir steckten nun also dort im Niemandsland fest. Nach anfaenglicher Panik haben wir mit Schaufeln (hatten ein Kehrblech an Bord) und schieben versucht, unser doch nicht ganz so leichtes Auto aus dem Loch zu kriegen. Als es endlich geschafft war, sind wir den urspruenglichen Weg weiter gefahren und wollten von unten ordentlich Anlauf nehmen und ueber die Unglueckstelle wieder hoch fahren. Scheinbar hatten wir doch nicht genug Schwung, denn wir sind wieder steckengeblieben. Zu Aerger und Hitze kamen ausserdem noch ungefaehr 12544732 Fliegen, die sich mit Vorliebe in unsere Gesichter gesetzt haben.
Letztendlich haben wir es erneut geschafft (insgesamt mussten wir den Van 4 mal freischieben) und so viel Anlauf wie moeglich genommen. In einem Affenzahn ist Kalinka ueber die Schlagloecher gebrettert („Silke, pack dich fest!“) und mit einem riesen Satz, der uns und saemtiliches sich an Bord befindende Geschirr und Gepaeck ordentlich in die Hoehe geschmissen hat, haben wir es endlich gemeistert. Mann, waren wir froh. Wieder auf der befestigten Strasse angekommen mussten wir erst mal anhalten, weil wir so gezittert haben. Unsere einzige Hoffnung bestand die ganze Zeit darin, dass der Highway ja nur 2 Km entfernt war.
Von da an waren wir uns jedenfalls einig: Keine Strassen mehr, die nicht komplett fuer uns geeignet sind!
Der naechste Stopp war bei Shelly Beach. Der besteht nur, wirklich nur, aus weissen Muscheln. Wunderschoen, aber auf Grund der auch hier herrschenden Fliegenplage haben wir bloss schnell Fotos gemacht und sind weiter gefahren.
Bei den Stromatolythen (oder so aehnlich), Sauerstoffproduzierenden Steinen war die Situation aehnlich und der Entschluss, dass meine naechste Anschaffung ein zwar aeusserst albernes aber sinnvolles Fliegennetz sein wuerde, war gefestigt.
Durch bruetende Hitze sind wir nach Carnavon gefahren, haben dort, verschwitzt und verstaubt eine Essens- und Ruhepause eingelegt und die Fahrt nach Coral Bay aufgenommen.
Auch bei diesem Resort sind wir wieder recht spaet Abends angekommen und keiner wollte Eintrittsgeld von uns haben…
Nach einer absolut wohltuenden Dusche haben wir uns fuer je 6,60 Dollar Schnorchelausruestungen geliehen und das Ningaloo-Reef erkundet. Vom Strand aus brauchte man bloss ein paar Meter ins Meer laufen (da, wo das Wasser von tuerkisblau ins dunkelblau wechselte) und was man dann zu sehen bekam, war einfach atemberaubend. Korallen (meist braune, manche hatten blaue Spitzen), Fische in allen Groessen und Farben und sogar Schildkroeten. Uns ging es wirklich mal wieder einfach schlecht.
Die Tauchtouren fuer 350 Dollar haben wir uns allerdings dann doch nicht gegoennt.
Den naechsten Tag haben wir aehnlich fantastisch verbracht und sind nach dem Sonnenuntergang wieder nach Sueden, zurueck Richtung Perth aufgebrochen.
Sobald es dunkel wird, kommen wohl all die bloeden Falter aus ihren Verstecken und es kommt einem teilweise echt so vor, als wuerde es schneien.
Als waere das nicht genug, sassen hier auch dutzende von Kaenguruhs am Strassenrand, die aber zum Glueck alle wieder in den Busch gesprungen sind, als wir angefahren kommen. Es ist naemlich fucking verboten, fuer Roos, Emus etc auszuweichen.
Aber was, wenn da ploetzlich eine ganze Kuhherde mitten auf der Strasse steht und einen bloed anglotzt? Da haben wir dann doch lieber mal angehalten, gehupt, ich hab sie angebruellt (hab ich ja auf der Farm gelernt, dass die dann weglaufen) und unter einem mittelschweren Lachanfall verlief die restliche Fahrt ohne weitere Vorfaelle.
Uebrigens: Wenn man am Horizont das Licht vom Gegenverkehr sieht, kann man gut und gerne noch 8 Kilometer fahren, bis man sich dann tatsaechlich begegnet. Und da derjenige ja auch faehrt, kann wohl niemand behaupten, dass er den sich mindestens 15 Kilometer vorher ankuendigenden Gegenverkehr nicht gesehen hat.
Die Nacht haben wir an einer Raststaette verbracht, wie unspektakulaer.
Unser letzter Fahr-Tag war angebrochen und mit Zwischenstopps im wunderschoenen Kalbarri-Nationalpark (wieder absolute Fliegenplage, aber dank meinem schicken Fliegennetz nicht mehr ganz so unertraeglich) und Northampton (hier haben wir BBQ mit frischem Fisch gemacht, den uns Angler am Abend zuvor in Coral Bay geschenk haben; lecker!!!) hatte uns, vor allem Kalinka, der Ehrgeiz gepackt und wir sind tatsaechlich bis Freo durchgefahren.
Es war so was von a***hkalt im Auto! Die dumme Heizung funktionierte nicht (ja, wir haetten sie echt gebraucht!) und wir waren echt froh, als wir in unsere Schlafsaecke kriechen konnten.
Zur Feier des Tages (Muttertag! Quasi fuer euch, ihr beiden Mamas!) wollten wir gestern in Freo schoen Fruehstuecken gehen und haben auch nach etlichem Suchen ein nettes Cafe gefunden, was unseren Vorstellungen entsprach und wo wir nicht 45 Minuten auf ein paar Spiegeleier warten sollten.
Nach dem Fruehstueck waren wir pappsatt und sind ein bissel durch Freo gebummelt. Als wieder Platz in uns war mussten wir uns natuerlich bei Cold Rock noch ein Eis goennen (demnaechst wir es uebrigens in Muenchen, Regensburg und Siegen auch Filialen geben), dann hiess es ausruhen, packen und Auto waschen.
Die letzte Wicked-Nacht haben wir ebenfalls wieder in Freo am South Beach verbracht und uns Abends dort noch mit Bekannten von Kalinka getroffen.
Durchgefroren sind wir heut morgen aufgewacht, haben gefruehstueckt (2 Minuten-Nudeln, weil das Toastbrot verschimmelt war, so ein Aerger), sind wieder nach Perth gefahren, haben unseren Freund, den Camper, rappelleer abgegeben, ihn begutachten lassen, uns im Seafood-Restaurant fuer heut Abend einen Tisch bestellt und im Hostel eingecheckt.
Diesmal sind wir in einem anderen Hostel, der Eingangsbereich sieht schon mal vielversprechend aus.
Jetzt werden wir gleich endlich unser Zimmer beziehen, lange und heiss duschen, noch mal die Stadt unsicher machen (wir muessen unbedingt noch mal in diesen einen Surfshop!) und uns heut Abend einen Crayfish (wohl so aehnlich wie Hummer, ich bin ja mal gespannt, wie isst man denn so ein Tier?????) goennen.
Tja und dann heisst es morgen Abschied nehmen von Perth und West Australia.
Meine Fotos habe ich gebrannt, Kalinkas bekomme ich auch noch und dann werde ich hoffentlich ganz bald (heut Nacht?) Gelegenheit haben, euch auch optisch mit ein paar Eindruecken zu versorgen.
Der Trip war echt absolute Klasse. Wir hatten eine Menge Spass, sind uns trotz 24-Stunden-Dauer-Aufeinander-Hocken nicht auf die Nerven gegangen (stimmt doch, oder???) und haben in den 9 Tagen mal eben 3100 Kilometer zurueckgelegt.
Es ist einfach unbeschreiblich, wie die Landschaft unterwegs aussah. Und das verrueckteste: Im Fruehjahr ist dort alles ueberflutet! Ueberall stehen Warnschilder und 2 Meter hohe Pfeiler zeigen die Wasserhoehe an. Dann blueht alles, ganze Felder von Wildblumen.
Die Idee, nach Perth zu fliegen und die Westkueste zu erkunden war jedenfalls genau richtig. Ansonsten haetten wir jede allein in Sydney bzw. Adelaide gesessen, gefroren, uns gelangweilt und einfach was geiles verpasst. Hach, war das schoen…
Soviel nun also zu den groben Berichten.
Details gefaellig? Die gibts dann persoenlich. Fotos, wie gesagt, folgen so bald wie moeglich.
Ich hoffe, der Neidfaktor hat eine bisher ungekannte Hoehe erreicht, die vielleicht ja sogar noch getoppt wird in den naechsten Wochen. Denn uebermorgen ist es soweit: Ich kriege Besuch!!!!!!
